Miss Emma May Holland died in this city at 4:15 o’clock Sunday morning at the residence of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ora Holland, No. 116 Mt. Pleasant Avenue, aged 35 years.

During the fourteen weeks of her illness she suffered as only a few are called upon to suffer. Her cross was almost more than she could bear, yet she did not murmur. Her pain and suffering was endured with a resignation and fortitude, fully exemplifying her abiding faith, that the pain and sorrow of this world will be changed to joy and gladness in the world to come.

Miss Holland was born in this city April 11, 1861. She was a graduate of the Dubuque high school and a member of the King’s Daughters of the Universalist church. She was also prominently identified with the Sunday school and took a deep interest in the church and charitable work. She was a young lady of many estimable qualities, whose happy disposition and kindly heart had endeared her to a circle of admiring friends, who sincerely mourn her loss.

She is survived by her parents and two brothers, Dr. F. H. and John, all of this city, who have the sympathy of the entire community in their bereavement.

The funeral will take place Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock from the residence to Linwood.
