BANKSTON, Iowa - Myrene M. Lattner, 96, of 22240 Girl Scout Road, Bankston, died at 8:10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 15, 2010, on the family farm in Bankston, surrounded by loved ones.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19, at St. Clement's Catholic Church, Bankston, with the Rev. Dennis Cain officiating and the Rev. Joseph McDermott, SVD concelebrating. Burial will be in St. Clement's Cemetery, Bankston. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 18, at Reiff Funeral Home, Farley, where the CDA Rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. and a wake service will be at 8 p.m.

She was born on Nov. 4, 1913, on a farm near Bankston, daughter of Paul and Mary (Arlen) Rauen. She was a graduate of St. Clement's High School in Bankston, and later St. Joseph's Mercy School of Nursing in Dubuque, where she graduated with the class of 1936.

She worked in Ann Arbor, Mich., as a nurse until 1937.

She married Clifford Lattner on Nov. 10, 1937, at St. Clement's Catholic Church in Bankston; he preceded her in death on Jan. 25, 1997. They lived on the Lattner farm east of Bankston. To this union, five children were born.

Myrene's love of family brought joy to herself and those around her. She also enjoyed her nursing career. Myrene continued her nursing career as a registered nurse at Mercy Hospital, St. Joseph's unit, in Dubuque.

She was a member of St. Clement's Parish in Bankston, a member of its Altar and Rosary Society, a lifetime member of the Farley Catholic Daughters of the Americas-Presentation Court 1460 and an honorary member of the Mercy Hospital Auxiliary.

Surviving are two sons, David (Carol) Lattner, of Waterloo, and Joseph (Peggy) Lattner, of Bankston; two daughters, Sister Ishmael Lattner, PCPA, of Canton, Ohio, and Donna (Ronald) Huberty, of Dyersville;

16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; a sister, Florence Callahan, of Epworth; a brother, Willis "Bill" (Janice) Rauen, of Dubuque; a sister-in-law, Eileen Rauen, of Farley; and a brother-in-law, Jerry Hess, of Dyersville.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Paul J. Lattner, on March 17, 2010; two brothers, Peter and Sylvester Rauen; and four sisters, Luella Beckman, Theresa Milbert, Ardella Even and Rita Hess.

A Myrene M. Lattner Memorial Fund has been established.
