Theresa M. Brehm 93, 9427 Cottingham Road, died at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16, 1998, at The Finley Hospital.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Holy Family Catholic Church, New Melleray, rural Peosta, Iowa, with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 1:30 to 9 p.m. today at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., where there will be a parish wake service at 3:30 p.m. Friends also may call after 9:30 a.m. Monday at the church.

She was born on Oct. 15, 1905, in Bavaria, Germany, daughter of John and Theresa (Schmidt) Schiessl. She married John L. Brehm on June 2, 1924, at St. Mary's Catholic Church; he died on Dec. 26, 1979. She then married William F. Brehm on May 24, 1986, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church; he died on Oct. 14, 1992.

She was a member of Holy Family Parish, and its altar and rosary society. She was a 50-year member of the Farm Bureau and the Area Residential Care Auxiliary. Theresa was a full-time homemaker and enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, cooking, baking and sewing. She loved her children and grandchildren very much.

Surviving are five daughters, Marion T. (Wilbert) Connolly, of Dubuque, Helen M. Steffen, of Farley, Iowa, Rita A. (Anthony) Ernst and Clara Ernst, both of Bellevue, Iowa, and Kathryn G. (John J.) Gaul, of Peosta; three sons, Earl J. (Esther) Brehm, of Dubuque, William A. (Ivy) Brehm, of Peosta, and Paul W. Brehm, of Perry, Iowa; a son-in-law, Thomas (June) Smith, of Roscoe, Ill.; 49 grandchildren and 132 great-grandchildren; two stepdaughters, Marjorie A. (Fritz) Lamb, of Madison, Wis., and Lois M. (Richard) Goluch, of Waukesha, Wis.; one stepson, Donald (Mary Ellen) Brehm, of Rickardsville, Iowa; 10 step-grandchildren; 10 stepgreat-grandchildren; two sisters, Mathilda Stoltz, of Dubuque, and Marie (Bill) Van De Weil, of Dubuque; one brother, Joseph (Greta) Schiessl, of Dubuque; and a sister-in-law, Bernice Schiessl, of Dubuque.

She also was preceded in death by two daughters, Mrs. Tom (Theresa) Smith and Margaret Brehm; a brother, Anton Schiessl; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A Theresa M. Brehm Memorial Fund has been established.
