CASCADE, Iowa - Mrs. Edwin (Juanita A.) Bergfeld, 69, of 22655 Eby's Mill Road, Cascade, formerly of Epworth, died at 11:27 p.m. Tuesday, April 23, 2002, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Martin's Catholic Church, Cascade, with the Rev. Monsignor Albert Manternach officiating. Burial will be in Holy Family Cemetery, Peosta. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Reiff Funeral Home, Cascade, where there will be a wake service at 7 p.m.

Mrs. Bergfeld was employed as a cook for the Western Dubuque School in Epworth.

She was born on Feb. 24, 1933, in Peosta, daughter of Elmer and Marie (Chapmann) Gansen. She married Edwin Bergfeld on Feb. 12, 1952, at St. John's Catholic Church in Peosta.

She was a graduate of the former St. John's High School in Peosta. She was a member of St. Matthias Parish in Cascade.

Juanita loved her family, and enjoyed spending her time with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed crocheting and doing crafts to give to her children and grandchildren.

Surviving are her husband, Edwin Bergfeld, of Cascade; six children, Joyce (Andy) Zapf, of Sandwich, Ill., Jerry (Sharon) Bergfeld, of Leland, Ill., Vince (DeEtt) Bergfeld, of Peosta, Jenice (David) McLees, of Cascade, Edwin (Karen) Bergfeld Jr., of Peosta, and Jeanette (Ken) Mausser, of Cascade; 22 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; a brother, Leo Gansen Sr., of Epworth; and a sister, Mary Hinkel, of Dubuque.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A Juanita A. Bergfeld memorial fund has been established.
