Emma Jean Bergfeld, 68, of 15020 Ryan Road, died at 4:20 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 24, 2009, at home.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 29, at Holy Family Catholic Church, with the Rev. Xavier Dieter, OCSO, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 28, at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road, where there will be a wake service at 2 p.m.

She was born on Oct. 2, 1941, in Dubuque, daughter of James and Nora Cecelia (Urbain) Hutchcroft. She attended Holy Rosary High School in La Motte, Iowa.

She married Charlie Bergfeld on Aug. 27, 1960, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, La Motte. Together they farmed and owned and operated Bergfeld Trucking.

She was a member of Holy Family Parish and St. Anne's Circle. She was an avid bowler both in the summer and winter leagues. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and traveling. Emma was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Surviving are her husband, Charlie; three children, Rick (Amy) Bergfeld, Ronda (John) O'Meara and Kevin (Becky) Bergfeld, all of Peosta, Iowa; eight grandchildren, Brandon, Alyssa and Dane Bergfeld, Shannan (Andy) Noonan, Steve O'Meara and Kyle, Chaz and Morgan Bergfeld; two great-grandchildren, Emma and Kale Noonan; sisters, Joan Hickson, of Otter Creek, and Georgia (Jim) Willging, of Dubuque; brothers, Robert (Helena) Hutchcroft, of Bellevue, Iowa, James (Eulaine) Hutchcroft, of La Motte, and John (Sandy) Hutchcroft, of Dubuque; and a sister-in-law, Dellene Till, of La Motte.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Daniel; and a brother-in-law, Jim Hickson.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Darryl Mozena and his nurses and staff and Hospice of Dubuque, especially Ann and Judy. Her VNA nurse, Nancy, and all of her family and friends for all the care, kindness, love and friendship they gave.
