Mrs. Mary A. Schwendinger, of 2485 Roosevelt Street, died unexpectedly at 11:35 p.m. Sunday at the family residence. She had been ailing for six months.
Friends may call after 7 p.m. Monday at the Didesch Funeral Home. Services will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday to the Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
She was born Oct. 1, 1876, in Rickardsville, a daughter of the late James and Mary Fitzgerald McCann. She was married to Joseph A. Schwendinger on June 17, 1902. They would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary a week from Tuesday. A lifelong resident of Dubuque County, she moved to the city in 1928. She was a member of the Holy Trinity Church and its Rosary Society.
Surviving are her husband, four sons, Leo, Paul and John Maurice Schwendinger, all of Dubuque; and George, of Chicago; two daughters, Mrs. Andrew (Marie) Bahl, of Lancaster, Wis., and Mrs. Lester (Lucille) Bahl, of Asbury; 23 grandchildren; a great granddaughter, Virginia Bahl; and a brother, Maurice McCann, of Winthrop, Ia.
She was preceded by a daughter, Mrs. Leo (Agnes) Bahl, on Dec. 19, 1945; two sisters and a brother.
