Mrs. Catherine (Kasper) Beck 1807-1892

Mrs. Catherine Beck, widow of the late John Beck, died yesterday morning at her home, Seventeeth and White Streets. Mrs. Beck’s maiden name was Kasper and was born in Grosboos, Luxemburg in 1807. Mrs. Beck was married in her native land and with him emigrated to this in 1844, locating in Chicago. In 1852, they family removed to this city, where Mr. Beck died about fifteen years ago and where Mrs. Beck resided. The surviving sons and daughters are Peter and Nicholas Beck of Lake City, Minn. And Mrs. Olinger (a widow), Mrs. Bohr and Mrs. Maresch of this city. Messrs. William and Nicholas Beck, the well know saloonkeepers of this city, are nephews of the deceased.

Mrs. Beck was well known among the older German residents of the city, who hold her in high regard for her many admirable qualities.
The funeral will be held Saturday morning at 9 o’clock for the late residence of the deceased. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery will be preceded by services to St Mary’s Catholic Church.
