Robin Maiden, 53, of 3528 Eclipse Circle, was called home Friday, July 4, 2008, at home after a long and courageous battle with cancer, with her devoted husband Chris at her side.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, July 7, at Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home, 3860 Asbury Road, where friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. today. Burial will be in Asbury Cemetery, Asbury, Iowa.

She was born on June 23, 1955, in Dubuque, daughter of John and June (Bateman) Cottrell. She married Chris Maiden on Jan. 10, 1997, at Grandview Methodist Church, Dubuque.

Robin was employed at John Deere Dubuque Works, and then operated a day care in her home for 13 years. She also worked at Bodine Electric Company and for the Dubuque Community School District.

Robin was a longtime member of the YM/YWCA. She was a very active person, who loved running and exercising. She enjoyed nature, and had many birdhouses and flowers in her yard.

Robin was very proud of her sons, and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was a very loving, caring and generous person who will be greatly missed by many.

Surviving are her husband, Chris Maiden, of Dubuque; two sons, Aaron (Megan) Witter and Andrew Witter, both of Dubuque; two grandchildren, Madison and Ava Witter; nine brothers and sisters, Gary (Shirley) Cottrell, of Vancouver, Wash., John Cottrell, and friend, Jean Reynolds, Bruce (Nora) Cottrell, Karen Gabrielson and Cheryl (Henry) Husemann, all of Dubuque, Candy (Lee) Carlson, of Belvidere, Ill., and Kim Kohn, and friend, Robert Enders, Mark (Mary Jo) Cottrell, and Matthew (Jeannie) Cottrell, all of Dubuque; her uncle, Jim (Laura) Bateman, of Dubuque' her mother-in-law, Mary Maiden, of Dubuque; numerous nephews and nieces; and a special lifelong friend, Kathy Sabers.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two children, Michael DeMuth and Naomi Witter; and a brother, David Cottrell.
