Augy J. Becker, 84, of 2271 Chaney Road, Pine Terrace Apartments No.3, formerly of New York City and West Port, Conn., died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2000, at home.

There will be no visitation or services. The Hoffmann-Schneider Funeral Home, 1640 Main St., is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Becker worked in advertising and marketing and worked for J. Walter Thompson, Creative Advertising, a copy writer for General Mills on the Wheaties account, chairman of Plans Board for Footecone and Belding for 10 years, retiring in 1962. In 1970, he rejoined Footecone and Belding and stayed for three years dividing his time between Chicago and New York.

He was born on July 22, 1915, in Dubuque, son of August F. and Agatha (Heim) Becker. He married Lois E. Engel in 1935, in Illinois.

He graduated from Columbia College, class of 1936.

Surviving are his former wife, Lois E. Becker, of Norfork, Ark.; daughters Sandra (Thomas) Burke, of Two Harbors, Minn., Sue (Gerald) Frazier, of Norfork, Shari (Robert) Kieling, of Newark, Delaware, Shanuth (Albert) Octavio, of Joshua Tree, Calif., and Stefani (John) Franzelas, of Tampa, Fla.; sons Jeffrey Becker, of Key Largo, Fla., and John (Elise) Becker, of Otto, N.C.; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
