Roger V. Becker, 70, of 2620 Becker Court, died at 6:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 26, 2005, at The Finley Hospital, Dubuque.

Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road, where there will be a wake service at 3 p.m. Cremation will follow.

He was born on April 24, 1935, in Dubuque, son of William and Bertha (Widmar) Becker. He married Darlene Kremer on Oct. 15, 1955, at St. Columbkille's Catholic Church.

Mr. Becker was a skilled stone mason and owned and operated Becker Stone Quarry on Kaufmann Avenue. He was involved in many Dubuque building projects through the use of natural stone.

He loved to hunt, fish and trap shoot and was an accomplished gardener. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, playing cards and doing puzzles.

Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Darlene; four daughters, Vickie (Rick) Mills, Brenda (Randy) Mills, Lisa (Tom) Droullard and Angela (Darren) McCarthy, all of Dubuque; six sons, Daniel (Sue) Becker, Wade (Carla) Becker, Glenn Becker and Doug Becker, all of Dubuque, Larry (Milcent) Becker, of Florida, and Rory (Jenny) Becker, of Bernard, Iowa; 17 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; eight sisters, Marie Stierman, Delores (Joe) Kloser, Dorothy (Earl) Gottschalk, Joan Miller and Lois Rannals, all of Dubuque, Eleanor Schwendinger, of Peosta, Iowa, Evelyn High, of Texas, and Alice (Ken) Davies, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; a brother, Harold (Dorothy) Becker, of Dubuque; and his faithful companion,"Sassy."

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Rosie; and two brothers, William and Walter.

In lieu of flowers, a Roger Becker Memorial Fund has been established.
