Eileen G. (Siegert) Bahl 1923-2012

Eileen G. Bahl, 88, of Luther Manor, formerly of 3377 Starlite Drive, died at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, June 24, 2012, at Luther Manor, with her loving family by her side.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 28, at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, with the Rev. Mark Ressler officiating. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Key West, Iowa. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Siegert-Casper Colonial Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 390 N. Grandview Ave., where a parish scripture wake service will be at 5 p.m.

Eileen was born on Aug. 19, 1923, in Dubuque, daughter of Joseph and Clara (Udelhoven) Siegert. She married Vincent J. Bahl on June 3, 1942, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Dubuque; he preceded her in death on June 8, 2006.

Eileen helped her husband with farming for many years in the Center Grove area. After retiring from farming, they constructed their new home, which was where Eileen raised their three children and spoiled her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also worked several years at the St. Joseph Mercy Hospital gift shop.

She was a charter member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Dubuque.

Eileen enjoyed watching "The Price is Right" and was a Chicago Cubs fan. She loved to visit with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving are her three children, Beverly (Jerry) Pfab, of Waddell, Ariz., Ron (Roxanne) Bahl, of Dubuque and Terry (Barbara) Bahl, of Peosta, Iowa; eight grandchildren, Lori (Shawn) Bomar, of Yarnell, Ariz, Kathy Phillips, of Santa Clarita, Calif., Jodi (Eric) Breyfogle, of Waddell, Ariz., Mary Bahl, Kristy (Chad) Fenwick and Katie (Solomon) Vansteenburg, all of Dubuque, Brian (Jamie) Bahl, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, and Beth (Bryan) Cupps, of Epworth, Iowa; 15 great-grandchildren, Nicholas Bomar, Kathryn Bomar, Jerry Phillips, Joey Phillips, Jacob Breyfogle, Ansley Breyfogle, Haley Bahl, Justin Bahl, Emily White, Gunnar White, Aubrey Bahl, Colten Bahl, Caden Bahl, Laney Cupps and Jackson Cupps, and a soon-to-be new baby Breyfogle; two stepgreat-grandchildren, Brittany Bomar and Max Bomar; and two sisters, Edna Schiel and Rita (Charles) Schmitt, both of Dubuque.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Walter (Clara) Siegert, Earl (Lorraine) Siegert, Joseph "Sonny" Siegert and Leonard (Ann) Siegert; and a sister, Marie (Joseph) Kress.

An Eileen G. Bahl Memorial Fund has been established.
