FARLEY, Iowa - Carl H. Beringer, 86, of 8243 Comer Road, Farley, died at 11:20 a.m. Tuesday, June 26, 2001, at The Finley Hospital, Dubuque.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Farley, with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. today at Reiff Funeral Home, Farley, where there will be a St. Joseph's Parish rosary at 4 p.m., and a wake service at 7 p.m.

Mr. Beringer farmed in the rural Farley area.

He was born on March 4, 1915, in Placid, rural Epworth, son of Joseph and Mary (Rauen) Beringer. He married Alvina Schulte on Feb. 11, 1941, at St. Boniface Catholic Church, New Vienna, Iowa.

He received his education at the former St. Mary's School, Cascade, Iowa. He was a member of St. Joseph's Parish, Farley, and its altar and rosary society and the Dubuque County Farm Bureau. Carl truly cherished and enjoyed visiting with his family, friends and neighbors.

Surviving are his wife, Alvina Beringer, of Farley; a son, Tom (Carol) Beringer, of Farley; twin daughters, Judy (Dave) Gogel, of Worthington, and Janie (Peter) Ament, of Dyersville; nine grandchildren, Don (Jill) Beringer, Lynn (Dave) Bonert, Lisa (Gary Joe) Ludwig, Wayne Beringer, Brian Gogel, Scott Gogel, Michael Gogel, Jeff Ament and Mary Jo Ament; five great-grandchildren, Andy, Ashley and Austin Beringer, Hannah Ludwig and Brandon Bonert; a brother, Bill (Imelda) Beringer, of Cascade; two sisters, Odie (Pete) Boffeli, of Cascade, and Tecie (Jim) Lehman, of Iowa City; and two sisters-in-law, Bernice Beringer and Ione Beringer, both of Cascade.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Vic, Nick, Arnold A. "Arnie," and two brothers in infancy.

A Carl H. Beringer Memorial Fund has been established.
