Joseph E. "Joey" Clapham, 51, of G and G Living Center, Guttenberg, Iowa, formerly of 4575 South Beach Lane, Dubuque, died Thursday, Feb. 5, 2009, at G and G Living Center.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 9, at Siegert-Casper Colonial Funeral Home, 390 N. Grandview Ave., where friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today. Burial will be in Center Grove Cemetery.

He was born on April 30, 1957, in Maquoketa, Iowa, son of Elmer and Elizabeth "Virginia" (Troester) Clapham. He lived in the Dubuque area his entire life and attended the special education program at Audubon School.

Joey enjoyed the Special Olympics, farming with his father and singing and dancing. He made friends easily and enjoyed those friendships. He enjoyed his cousin's buffalo ranch and the buffalo. He also enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews.

Surviving are four sisters, Bertha (Don) Thoma, of St. Donatus, Iowa, Illa McDermott, of Dubuque, Christine (Roger) Clark, of Zwingle, Iowa, and Joyce (Donald) Schoenberger, of Dubuque; several nieces and nephews, MaDonna Thoma-Kremer and Eldon Thoma, Wayne McDermott, Robert Clark and Elizabeth Bruns, John Schoenberger and Illa Arthofer, and Daryl Clapham and Tammy Bullock; and 13 great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, William and David Clapham; a brother-in-law, Lawrence McDermott; and a nephew, Dawson McDermott
