Catherine C. (Schuster) Christopherson 1922-2015

Catherine C. Christopherson, 93, of Dubuque, Iowa passed away on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at Luther Manor.

Funeral mass will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 27, at St. Joseph Church, Key West with Rev. Scott Boone officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery with military detail by American Legion Post #6. Friends may call from 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Friday at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road.

Catherine was born on Feb. 9, 1922 in Dubuque, Iowa, the daughter of Nicholas and Barbara (Wethor) Schuster.

She is a US Navy Veteran, having served from 1944 to 1946. She married LaVern Christopherson on June 27, 1948 at St. Joseph Church Key West.

Catherine loved being with family and friends and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling with LaVern after retirement. Her loves included sewing, quilting, and cooking.

She is survived by her 4 children, Diane (David) Griffin, Ronald (Denise) Christopherson, Joan (Chris) Lagen, all of Dubuque and Gary Christopherson of Albuquerque, New Mexico; 7 grandchildren, Jenny (Ron) Uthe, Jolene (Chad) Darter, Mike (Laurie) Griffin, Jason (Mollie) Christopherson, Kevin Christopherson, Sarah (Chris) Conlan, and Kate (Justin) Steger; 12 great-grandchildren, Keegan, Brody, and Riley Uthe, Cece and Ally Darter, Emmett Griffin, Jordan Johnson, Finn, Natalie, and Gabe Christoperson, Cordelia Conlan, and Avalyn Steger; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, LaVern; her parents; three brothers, Clarence, Joe, and Ray Schuster; and three sisters, Margaret Bradford, Mary Donovan, and Loretta Sisler.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Luther Manor and Hospice of Dubuque for the exceptional care they gave to Catherine. A special thank you to her nieces Dorothy, Karen and Elaine for their friendship, love, and many laughs.

In lieu of flowers memorial may be given to Hospice of Dubuque.
