Beloved Woman Sleeps In Death

Mrs. Charles H. Eighmey Passes Away At Early Hour Saturday Morning
Daughter of Late W. G. Stewart

Mrs. Eighmey was Prominently Identified with the Charities and Religious Life of the City
Mrs. Charles H. Eighmey died at her home, 1337 Main Street, early Saturday morning. This announcement will bring sorrow into many homes in our city where Mrs. Eighmey was greatly beloved.

In spite of habitually delicate health she was actively interested for many years in the chief charitable and philanthropic enterprises of Dubuque, serving as director on the boards of both Finley hospital and the Home for the Friendless. She will be especially missed in the work of St. Luke's Methodist-Episcopal Church, of which she was throughout her married life a loyal and devoted member, at various times serving as president of some of its societies of women. Peculiarly fitted for social leadership, Mrs. Eighmey's home has ever been the synonym of fine and gracious hospitality. Her charm as a hostess, her sterling worth as a gifted Christian woman will be held in grateful remembrance by a host of friends both in Dubuque and elsewhere.

Elizabeth Jane Stewart was born May 20, 1842 in Dubuque. She was the daughter of William G. and Caroline Stewart. On October 6, 1864 she was married to Charles H. Eighmey, who, together with their only child, Miss Augusta M. survives her. The funeral services will be held at St. Luke's church on Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock.
