SISTER MARY CELESTINE, OSF
~
Sister Mary Celestine Jungers (Frances Jungers), a member of the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Francis, died after a lengthy illness in the infirmary at St. Francis Thursday on the fifty seventh anniversary of her reception into the Franciscan Order.

Sister Mary Celestine was born near St. Catherine, Ia. on May 22, 1869. After attending boarding school for two years at St. Mary’s, Dubuque, she entered St. Francis Convent in April 1884, and was received into the congregation on August 12, 1886.

The years of religious life were devoted to teaching in parochial schools conducted by the Sisters of St. Francis. Her declining years were spent in retirement at Mount St. Francis because of failing health.

The solemn requiem mass for the deceased Sister was offered at 9 o’clock on Saturday morning in the chapel in the Motherhouse, and interment was made in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

The Rev. Ernsdorff was celebrant of the mass: the Rev. John Howell, deacon; the Rev. George Schulte, subdeacon, and the Rev. Francis Houlahan, master of ceremonies.

Sister Mary Celestine is survived by her sister, Mrs. Joseph Manders of St. Catherine, Iowa, and many nieces and nephews.
