William V. Brown, well known farmer of Vernon Township, died at 9 a.m. Sunday at Mercy Hospital. He had been ill for sometime.

Friends may call after 7 p.m. Monday at the Hoffmann Mortuary, from where services will be held at 8:15 a.m. Wednesday to the Holy Family Church at the Monastery with the Requiem Mass at 9 a.m. Burial will be in the Holy Family Cemetery.

Mr. Brown was born in Vernon Township, Dubuque County, the son of Ambrose and Mary Ann Walsh Brown. He was engaged in farming on the same farm on which he was born.

He was a member of the Holy Family Parish at the Monastery and was also a member of the Church’s Holy Name Society.

Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. George (Frances) Sloan and Bernice Brown, R.N., both of Dubuque and nieces and nephews. Mark McGovern, a nephew, made his home with the Brown family.
