FARLEY, Iowa -- Clarence J. Pins, 93, of 103 2nd Ave. SW, Farley, died at 9:05 p.m. Tuesday, June 15, 2010, at his home.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 19, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Farley, with the Rev. Dennis Cain officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Farley. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Reiff Funeral Home, Farley, where there will be a wake service at 4 p.m. and a Knights of Columbus rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.

He was born on May 1, 1917, in Bankston, son of William and Sylvia (Schmitt) Pins. He was a graduate of St. Clement's High School in Bankston.

He married Catherine Hoefer on Sept. 18, 1941, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Farley.

Clarence farmed in Farley until his retirement in 1978.

He was a member of St. Joseph's Parish in Farley, and the Farley Knights of Columbus-Council 2001.

Clarence was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, and admired and respected by all.

Surviving are his wife, Catherine Pins, of Farley; four children, Ron Pins, of Des Moines, Dianne Beilstein, of West Des Moines, Carolyn Schlichte, of Marion, and Jerry (Julie) Pins, of Farley; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marilyn (Bill) Beyer, of Epworth, and Donna Goerdt, of Dyersville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Ashley Pins, on Dec. 26, 2007; two brothers, William Pins and Laverne Pins; and a sister, Elaine Goedken.
