Frank C. Moreland, 83, of 1974 Deborah Drive, died Thursday, April 1, 2010, at home surrounded by his family after an extended illness.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, April 5, at Nativity Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Farley, Iowa, where military rites will be accorded by the Dubuque American Legion Post 6. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2659 Kennedy Road, where there will be a parish scripture wake at 7:30 p.m.

He was born on Jan. 1, 1927, in Colesburg, Iowa, son of Joseph and Marie (Tschirgi) Moreland. He married Rosene Arlen on May 2, 1959, at the Annunciation Church, Lattnerville, Iowa.

Frank was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Army.

Frank worked in the maintenance department at John Deere Dubuque Works for 33 years, retiring in 1985.

He was a member of Nativity Parish, the American Legion Post 6 of Dubuque and UAW Local 94.

Surviving are his wife, Rosene, of Dubuque; his children, Dennis (Vickie) Moreland, of Battle Ground, Wash., Charles (Sandy) Moreland, of Peosta, Iowa, Michael (Beverly) Moreland, of Cottage Grove, Minn., Lori Steffen, of Dubuque, and Todd (Lauri) Moreland, of Baldwin, Wis.; his brother, John Moreland, of Iowa City, Iowa; his sister, Katherine (Clayton) Klein, of Tiffin, Iowa; 13 grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and his lifetime friends, Henry and Shirley Kann, of Guttenberg, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and a sister.
