FARLEY, Iowa - Kathryn J. Ludwig, 90, of Farley, died Monday, Oct. 1, 2007, at Shady Rest Care Center, Cascade, surrounded by her family.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Farley, with the Rev. Dennis Cain officiating and the Rev. John Ptacek concelebrating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Farley. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. today at Reiff Funeral Home, Farley, where there will be a wake service at 4 p.m. and the Farley American Legion and the Farley American Legion Auxiliary will meet in body at 7 p.m.

She was born on Nov. 20, 1916, in Worthington, daughter of William and Agatha (Funke) Ostwinkle. She received her education in the Worthington-area schools.

She married Leon M. Ludwig on Jan. 18, 1938, at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Worthington; he preceded her in death on June 6, 1986.

She was a member of St. Joseph's Parish in Farley, a member of its Altar and Rosary Society.

Kathryn's greatest joy in life was visits from her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving are four sons, John (LaVonne) Ludwig, of Anamosa, Gary (Mary Jane) Ludwig and Dave (Betty) Ludwig, both of Worthington, James (Mary) Ludwig, of Farley; five daughters, Judy (Dick) Link, Darlene (Ken) Besler and Kathy (Joseph) Jasper, all of Farley, Mary (Rodney) DeSotel, of Luxemburg, and Linda (Neil) Hoeger, of Worthington; 31 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; a sister, Dottie (Eugene) Tobin, of Worthington; sister and brothers-in-law, Mary Ostwinkle, of Placid, and Del Rose Ostwinkle, of Worthington, John (Germaine) Streng, of Cascade, and John Hackbarth, of Cedar Rapids.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; two sons-in-law, Eugene Kramer, in 1981, and Charles Jasper, in 1984; two great-grandchildren, Aidan Ludwig and Dane Ludwig; and six brothers, Alfred, Bernard, Leo, Bill, Ernie and Jack Ostwinkle; and three sisters, Marie Turnis, Lucille Ludwig and Margaret Ostwinkle.

A Kathryn J. Ludwig memorial fund has been established.
