FARLEY, Iowa - Edmond A. Ludwig, 87, of Farley, died at 11:05 p.m. Sunday, July 28, 2002, at Oakcrest Manor, Dyersville.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Farley, with the Rev. Daniel Knepper officiating and the Rev. Dennis Cain concelebrating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Farley. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. today at Reiff Funeral Home, Farley, where there will be a scripture wake service at 4 p.m., and a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 7 p.m.

Mr. Ludwig farmed in the rural Farley area until his retirement.

He was born on Aug. 14, 1914, in Worthington, son of Peter and Emma (White) Ludwig. He married Rosalyn Knepper on Aug. 30, 1947, at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Worthington; she preceded him in death on Sept. 20, 1990.

He was a member of St. Joseph's Parish, Farley, and a member of the Farley Knights of Columbus Council No. 2001.

Surviving are nine children, Lois (Jim) Loughren, of Winthrop, Ann (Michael) Domeyer, of Dubuque, Dennis (Terri) Ludwig, of Mount Vernon, Paul (Nancy) Ludwig, of Farley, Roger (Susan) Ludwig, of Iowa City, Jean Kluesner, of Manchester, Jan (Dennis) Kramer and Joyce (Tim) Singsank, both of Dyersville, and Donna (Vern) Gang, of Van Alstyne, Texas; 24 grandchildren, Shawn, Elizabeth, Nicholas and Matthew Loughren, Lisa and Rachel Domeyer, Renee (Rob) Gingery, Mark and Sarah Ludwig, Kevin, Chad and Angie Ludwig, Alex, Robert, Astrid and Greg Ludwig, Jennifer, Jaclyn, Jamee and Justine Kluesner, Shelley and Brian Kramer and Shannon and Josh Singsank; two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Clara Stansbary, of Cedar Rapids, Loretta Krapfl, of Elgin, Ill., and Germaine (John) Streng, of Cascade; and two brothers-in-law, Tony Funke and John Hackbarth.

He also was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters and brothers, Urban Ludwig, Erma Meis, Lucille Ahlers, Leon Ludwig, Margaret Funke, Sister Mary Germaine, PBVM, Mildred, Houlahan, Viola Hackbarth, Jerome Ludwig and Rosalia Leonard.

An Edmond A. Ludwig Memorial Fund has been established.
