FARLEY, Iowa - Loras F. Leibold, 76, of Farley, passed away Friday, Aug. 22, 2014, at 7:10 a.m. at Shady Rest Care Center in Cascade.

Friends and relatives of Loras may call from 1 to 5 p.m. today at Reiff Funeral Home in Farley, where a wake service will be held at 12:30 p.m., a Knights of Columbus rosary will be held at 3 p.m., the Farley Fire Department will meet in a body at 1:15 p.m. and the Farley American Legion Post 656 will meet at 4 p.m.

Services for Loras will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 25, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Farley, with the Rev. Michael Schueller presiding. Burial will be held in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Farley, where military rites will be accorded by Farley American Legion Post 656.

Loras was born April 12, 1938, in Farley, son of J. Thomas and Elizabeth (Pins) Leibold. He was a 1956 graduate of the former St. Joseph's High School in Farley. Loras served in the Army Reserves.

Loras was employed by Jack Freeze, Queen Shell. He then went to work driving a fuel truck for Perfection Oil Company and working at Troy's Shell station until his retirement in June 2003, after 36 years of service.

Loras was a gentle soul who loved his family and the town of Farley. He enjoyed bowling in his younger years and in his retirement years, he cherished his time with his buddies at J&B feed store, Greenwoods Grocery Store and Bill's Tap. He enjoyed going to the library and was the self-appointed Leibold family historian.

He was a member of St. Joseph's Parish in Farley, Farley Knights of Columbus Council 2001, and Farley America Legion Post 656. He was also a retired member of the Farley Fire Department.

He is survived by his brother, Melvin Leibold, of Dubuque; sister-in-law, Ruth Leibold, of Peosta; and 32 nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Rosemary White; five brothers, Emil, Leo, Raymond, Charles and Donald Leibold; a brother-in-law, Celester White; four sisters-in-law, Mary Leibold, Virginia Leibold, Irene Leibold and Betty Leibold; and a niece, Janet Melchert.
