FARLEY, Iowa - Clarence A. Leuchs, 84, of Farley, died at 10:15 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque.

Services for Clarence will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 24, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Farley, with the Rev. Michael Schueller presiding. Burial will be held in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Farley, where full military honors will be accorded by Farley American Legion Post 656. Friends and relatives of Clarence may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, March 23, at Reiff Funeral Home, Farley, where a wake service will be held at 2:30 p.m., the Farley American Legion will meet at 6 p.m. and a Knights of Columbus rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m.

Clarence was born on July 16, 1929, in Asbury, son of Herman J. and Olivia (Kirpes) Leuchs. He received his education in the rural Asbury schools and St. Joseph's School in Farley.

He farmed in the rural Farley. He enjoyed farming and was an outdoors enthusiast.

He was an Army veteran, having served in the Korean War. He was a member of St. Joseph's Parish in Farley, a member of the Farley American Legion Post 656 and a member of the Farley Knights of Columbus Council 2001.

He is survived by a brother, Ed Leuchs, of Dyersville; a sister, Delores "Babe" Leuchs; a sister-in-law, Vera Leuchs, of Key West, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Bernard and Joseph Leuchs; a sister- and brother-in-law, Rita (Bill) Oberbroeckling; a sister-in-law, Eleanor Leuchs; a niece, Jeanne Hansel; and a great nephew, Andy DeMuth.

A Clarence A. Leuchs Memorial Fund has been established.

The family of Clarence would like to thank the staff of Shady Rest Care Center, Sr. Sharon Kelchen, Lori Zalaznik, Deb Anstoetter, Scott and Kris Wegmann and Phyllis Nadermann for all they did for Clarence and Babe.
