Dolores M. Kotz, age 90, of Dubuque, IA, passed away peacefully at 3:28 a.m. on Wednesday, January 28, 2015, at Heritage Manor surrounded by her loving family. To honor Dolores' life, funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 31, 2015, at Holy Spirit Parish, Sacred Heart Church, 2215 Windsor Ave., with Rev. Dwayne J. Thoman officiating. To celebrate Dolores' life, family and friends may visit from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 30, 2015, at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., where there will be a parish scripture wake service held at 6:30 p.m. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Dolores was born on February 2, 1924, in Dubuque, IA, daughter of Joseph and Barbara (Wagner) Breitbach.

Dolores married Celester "Les" Kotz on October 16, 1943, at Sacred Heart Church in Dubuque. He preceded her in death on June 30, 1988.

Dolores was employed at the General Dry Battery Factory for 3 years and at Mary of Angels for 20 years. She was a longtime member of Holy Spirit Parish, Sacred Heart Church and the Rosary Society.

Dolores enjoyed listening to music, doing needle point, playing bingo and visiting with people. Dolores was a thoughtful and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved spending time with the grandchildren and enjoyed buying bargain toy gifts from Hartig's and Walgreen's when they were younger. Family was very important to Dolores and she faithfully said the driver's prayer when family members went on business and vacation trips.

Diane (John) Tschiggfrie, all of Dubuque, IA;

8 grandchildren,
Calleen (Jim) Bohl, Carla (Shane) Riley, Carolyn (Donald) Rauen, Tim (Sarah) Kotz, Joe (Tiana) Kotz, Jason Tschiggfrie, Scott Tschiggfrie and Kraig (special friend Amanda) Kotz;

2 step-grandchildren,
Jason Welsh and Nicole Welsh

12 great-grandchildren,
Amanda, Audrey and Alyssa Bohl, Meredith and Caitlyn Riley, Christopher and Cody Rauen, Tyler and Bryce Kotz, Grace Wachter, Austin Hantelman and Syerra Calvert;

2 sisters-in-law,
Jeanne (Gene) Kernall,
Madeline Kotz, both of Dubuque, IA;

a brother-in-law,
Vince (Maggie) Kotz, Farley, IA.

Dolores was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Celester; a son, Duane; a grandson, Kyle Kotz; a sister, Helen (Joseph) Sahm; 2 brothers, Leonard and Clarence Breitbach and a special friend Sister Evangelist Kelchen.

A Dolores M. Kotz memorial fund has been established.

The family would like to thank many of Dolores grandchildren, in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends who've sent holiday, birthday cards and photos to her over the past years; she enjoyed so much hearing from you.

The family sincerely thanks Dr. Manzel for over 30 years of outstanding medical care. Also Hospice of Dubuque for their wonderful care, and a huge thanks to the many Heritage Manor nursing aids, nurses, activities department and staff for the great care given to Dolores over the past 4 years; you treated her so very well and were like family.
