FARLEY, Iowa - James M. "Hooker" Kruse, 50, of 704 Railroad Ave., Farley, died at 5:20 p.m. Friday, May 26, 2000, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Farley. Burial will be in the church cemetery, where military rites will be accorded by the Farley American Legion Post 656. Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. today at Reiff Funeral Home, Farley, where there will be a Farley American Legion service at 2:15 p.m. and a wake service at 5 p.m.

Mr. Kruse was a machinist at Bodine Electric, in Peosta.

He was born on June 28, 1949, in Dubuque, son of John H. and Marie A. (Stathos) Kruse.

He married Myrtle Pierce on June 2, 1979; she died Nov. 1, 1987. He later married Peggy Hollenback on Aug. 18, 1990, in Nashua.

He graduated from the former St. Joseph's High School, Farley. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of St. Joseph's Parish, Farley, and the Farley American Legion Post 656, having served as its Past Commander. He also was a member of the Farley Park Board.

Surviving are his wife, Peggy Kruse, of Farley; a daughter, June Kruse, at home; a brother, Mark Kruse, of East Dubuque, Ill.; three sisters, Diana Pierce, Mary Ann (Steven) Wesenberg and Julie (Bill) Clements, all of Dubuque; and a godchild, Crystal Ahmann, of Epworth.

He also was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Sarah Kruse in 1960.

A James M. Kruse Memorial Fund has been established.
