FARLEY, Iowa -- Clarence M. Konzen, 87, of 502 Third Ave. SE, Farley, died at 7:15 p.m. Monday, March 1, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center, Dyersville.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 6, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Farley, with the Rev. Dennis Cain officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Farley, where military rites will be accorded by the Farley American Legion Post 656. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 5, at Reiff Funeral Home, Farley, where there will be a wake service at 4 p.m., an American Legion service at 6:30 p.m., and a Knights of Columbus rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.

He was born on April 12, 1922, in Farley, son of Frank and Elizabeth M. (Neumann) Konzen. He is a 1939 graduate of the former St. Joseph's High School in Farley.

Clarence was a veteran, having served as a corporal in the Marine Corps from 1943 to 1946.

He was employed as a foreman at Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids until his retirement on Sept. 1, 1983.

Clarence was a member of St. Joseph's Parish in Farley, the Farley American Legion Post 656, the Knights of Columbus Council 909 of Cedar Rapids, and the Bowen 4th Degree General Assembly of Cedar Rapids.

Surviving are two sisters, Ardell (Carl) Craugh, of Platteville, Wis., and Mary Robey, of Belle Vista, Ark.; four brothers, James (Lois) Konzen, of Farley, Fred (Elaine) Konzen, of Dyersville, Frank (Lois) Konzen, of Farley, and Lloyd Konzen, of Dyersville; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister in infancy; a sister-in-law, Mary Konzen; and a brother-in-law, Elmer Robey.
