FARLEY, Iowa - Mrs. Leander (Mae M.) Johannes, 79, 306 Sixth Ave. N.E., Farley, died at 2:10 p.m. Saturday, March 20, 1999, at The Finley Hospital, Dubuque.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Reiff Funeral Home, Farley, with burial in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Farley. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the Farley American Legion will visit as a group at 7 p.m. and there will be a Farley American Legion Auxiliary service at 7:15 p.m.

She was born on April 27, 1919, in Earlville, daughter of Robert W. and Etta (Diesch) McDowell. She married Leander Johannes on May 24, 1946, in Dubuque.

She received her education in Earlville area schools. She was a member of the Farley American Legion Auxiliary.

Surviving are her husband, Leander Johannes, of Farley; two daughters, Maryetta Pins, of Norwalk, and Patricia Puskas, of Clyman, Wis.; a son, Robert (Teresa) Johannes, of Durango; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and a brother, Edward (Mary Jane) McDowell, of Greeley.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Robert and Ray McDowell; and a sister, Ethel Timmerman.

A Mae M. Johannes Memorial Fund has been established.
