FARLEY, Iowa -- William J. "Bill" Hogan, 82, of 7466 Wieferich Road, Farley, died at 4:15 p.m. Wednesday, April 21, 2010, at his home, surrounded by family.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 24, at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Worthington, with the Rev. Robert Gross officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Farley. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Reiff Funeral Home, Farley, where there will be a wake service at 5 p.m.

He was born on Feb. 22, 1928, in Dyersville, son of Daniel and Mayme (Haas) Hogan. He received his education in the rural country schools and St. Paul's School in Worthington.

He married Wilma Lehmann on Aug. 23, 1950, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Farley. Bill farmed with his wife, Wilma, all his life on the Hogan Century Farm.

He was a member of St. Paul's Parish in Worthington, Pheasants Forever, the Worthington Sportsman's Club and the ASCS, for which he also served on the board of directors for several years. He also was a 4-H Leader in Worthington for many years.

He devoted his time to many activities, woodworking, hunting, fishing and trap shooting, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. He also enjoyed playing cards with neighbors and relatives, and the good company of his dog, Bo.

Surviving are his wife, Wilma Hogan, of Farley; five children, Leo (friend, Jen Tegeler) Hogan, of Farley, Bev (Ron) Goerdt, of Peosta, Karen (Al) Schmidt, of Cedar Rapids, Sherry (friend, Greg Hansen) Bonelli, of Marion, and Dan (Shelly) Hogan, of Farley; 12 grandchildren, Scott Hogan, Sandi (Kevin) Brantley, Adam (Miki) Goerdt, Alex (friend, Stephanie Grutz) Goerdt, Amber Schmidt, Austin Schmidt, Connor Bonelli, Sidney Bonelli, Kiley Bonelli, Brandon Hogan, Megan Hogan and Collin Hogan; a great-granddaughter, Mackenzie Hogan; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill (JoAnn) Lehmann, Ruth (Joe) McMahon, Florence (Merlie) Jaeger Sr., M. Lois Lehmann, PBVM, Marina Lehmann and Margie Lehmann; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Genevieve Wedewer; his father and mother-in-law, Tony and Frances Lehmann; brothers-in-law, Elmer Lehmann and Clarence Lehmann; and sisters-in-law, Anna Mae and Verla Lehmann.
