DELHI, Iowa - Jerald J. Hofbauer, 64, of 200 Bolger Drive, Fayette, Iowa, formerly of Delhi, died at 11:15 p.m. Monday, Feb. 19, 2001, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Farley, with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Reiff Funeral Home, Farley, where there will be a wake service at 7 p.m.

Mr. Hofbauer was a heavy-machine operator for several years and later worked in the maintenance department for the city of Fayette.

He was born on April 4, 1936, in Dedham, Carroll County, son of Joseph and Dorothy (Fick) Hofbauer.

He received his education in the Coon Rapids area country schools. He loved to hunt and fish. Jerald was the recipient of the volunteer award from the city of Fayette for his help during the flood.

Surviving are a daughter, Lorraine (Richard) Kress, of Farley; two grandchildren, Chad and Nicole Kress, both of Farley; two brothers, Robert Hofbauer and John (Sandy) Hofbauer, both of Coon Rapids; and four sisters, Rosemary (Vic) Sapp and Sandra (Lynn) Forke, both of Carroll, Sally (Dave) Johnson, of Des Moines, and Stella (Richard) Weber, of Glidden.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Kenneth Hofbauer; and two sisters, Lorraine Hofbauer and Diana M. Killeen.

A Jerald J. Hofbauer Memorial Fund has been established.
