FARLEY, Iowa - Michael J. Healy, 52, 107 Sixth Ave. N.E., Farley, died Saturday, Feb. 7, 1998, at home.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Farley, with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. today at Reiff Funeral Home, Farley, where there will be a wake service at 7 p.m.

Mr. Healy taught at St. Paul's School, Worthington, from 1967-70. He presently taught at Western Dubuque Drexler Middle School since 1970, where he served as past president of the Western Dubuque Education Association. He was a former varsity baseball coach at Western Dubuque, and was honored as a Big Bend Conference Baseball Coach of the year. He also coached seventh- and eighth-grade basketball for 28 years.

He was born on April 25, 1945, in Farley, son of Emmett D. and Elizabeth B. (O'Conner) Healy.

Michael was a 1963 graduate of the former St. Joseph's High School in Farley. He received his bachelor of arts degree from Loras College in 1967, and his master's degree from Loras in 1974.

Michael was the current secretary for the Farley Historical Society, and helped author "History of Farley." He served as a city clerk for the city of Farley. He was a member of the Farley Board of Adjustment; the Dubuque County Library Board; the National Education Association; and the Iowa State Education Association. He was a past Dubuque County Democratic Committee member.

Michael was a former member of the Farley Hawks baseball team. He was selected to manage the Dubuque County All-Star baseball game.

Surviving are three brothers, Pat (Nancy) Healy, of Waldorf, Md., and Dick (Maria) Healy and Ed Healy, both of Cedar Rapids; two sisters, Barbara (J. Antonio) Morales, of McAllen, Texas, and Betty (and friend, Chris Benson) Healy, of Chicago; four nieces, Liza and Patty Morales, and Katie and Connor Healy; and one nephew, Ryan Healy.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A Michael J. Healy Memorial Fund has been established.
