FARLEY, Iowa - Edward D. Healy, 52, of 310 Fifth Ave. SE, Cedar Rapids, formerly of Farley, died at 5:50 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2005, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids.

Services will be at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Farley, with the Rev. Dennis Cain officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Farley. Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. today at Reiff Funeral Home, Farley, where there will be a wake service at 5 p.m. Friends also may call after 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Mr. Healy worked as a clerk at the Grant Wood Area Education Agency, Cedar Rapids, where he received the Caring Colleague of the Year Award on May 14, 1997, and the Employee of the Year Award in 2000.

He was born on Aug. 31, 1952, in Farley, son of Emmett D. and Elizabeth B. (O'Connor) Healy.

He was a 1971 graduate of the former St. Joseph's High School in Farley.

Ed was an avid sports fan. He was especially loyal to the Hawkeyes, Bears and Cubs. He also enjoyed local sports. He was the manager of the Deanoz softball team in Cedar Rapids. Ed was the official scorekeeper at the Babe Ruth Tournament in Farley, for many years, for which the tournament honored him by establishing the "Eddie Healy Most Doubles Award." He also had a long association with the Farley Freaks softball team.

Surviving are two brothers, Pat (Nancy) Healy, of Sun City West, Ariz., and Dick (Maria) Healy, of Cedar Rapids; two sisters, Barbara (J. Antonio) Morales, of McAllen, Texas, and Betty (Chris Benson) Healy, of Chicago; four nieces, Liza Garza, Patty Morales and Katie and Connor Healy; and a nephew, Ryan Healy.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Michael J. Healy, on Feb. 7, 1998.
