FARLEY, Iowa - Alice J. Harkness, 83, of Farley, died peacefully at 3:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014, at her home.

A gathering of friends and relatives will be held from 3 to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22, at Reiff Funeral Home, Farley, where memorial services will be held at 5:30 p.m. The Rev. Michael Schueller will officiate. Burial will be held at a later date in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Farley.

Alice was born on Aug. 9, 1931, in New Vienna, daughter of Alver H. "Olie" and Ardella M. (Klaus) Kluesner. She was a graduate of the former St. Joseph's High School in Farley, and was a graduate of the Mercy School of Nursing in Dubuque.

She was employed at the Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park, Minn.

On Aug. 20, 1955, she was united in marriage to Dale Harkness at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Farley.

She was a member of St. Joseph's Parish in Farley.

She is survived by two children, Jeff (Linda) Harkness, of Montgomery, Minn., and Nancy (Andrew) Seckinger, of Farley; five grandchildren, Mollie, Emily, Lucas, Foster and Avalon; a brother, Jim (Carol) Kluesner, of Farley.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dale Harkness on Jan. 2, 1976; a son, Brian "Barney" Harkness on March 14, 2005; and two nephews, Gerald "Jerry" Kluesner and Robert Kluesner.
