FARLEY, Iowa - William J. "Bill" Greenwood, 61, of Farley, Iowa, died Wednesday, October 1, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque, Iowa.

Friends and relatives of Bill may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at the Reiff funeral Home in Farley, Iowa. A wake service will be held at 7:30 p.m. The Farley Fire Department will meet in a body at 6:30 p.m.

Services for Bill will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 4, 2014 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Farley, Iowa, with Rev. John Haugen presiding. Burial will be held in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Farley, Iowa.

Bill was born February 20, 1953, in Dubuque, Iowa, son of Eldon and Grace (Connolly) Greenwood. He was a 1971 graduate of St. Joseph's High School, in Farley, IA. He also attended St. Thomas Aquinas College in Nashville, TN and the University of Dubuque.

Bill's entire life centered around Main Street Farley, Iowa, his home-Greenwood's Grocery-St. Joe's Church and school. Farley is where everyone knew him and he was considered a friend to all, especially the elderly people,

He is a member of St. Joseph's Parish in Farley. He was a community volunteer for the Farley Volunteer Fire Department, the Farley Commercial Club, for which he served as past President and the Farley Little League as a coach.

He is survived by one sister, Gloria Greenwood of Urbandale, IA; six brothers, Pat (Michele) Greenwood, of Omaha, NE, Bob (Cheryl) Greenwood, of Waterloo, IA, John (Shari) Greenwood, of Peosta, IA, Tim Greenwood (& fiancé, Brenda Hills), of N. Buena Vista, IA, Terry (Trisha) Greenwood and Steve Greenwood, both of Farley, IA; 16 nieces and nephews, Maggie (Helmut) Brugman, Mike (Kate) Greenwood, Grace Greenwood, Joe (Torie) Greenwood, Tim Greenwood, Abby Greenwood, Sara (Wes) Vorwald, Megan, Brian, and Lisa Greenwood, Anne Marie, Thomas, Mary Clare, James, and Eva Greenwood, Katie (Justin) Funk; 6 great nieces and nephews, Elza and Mara Brugman, Amelia Greenwood, Noah Vorwald, Brooklyn and Avery Funk; Also surviving are aunts and uncles, Marion Greenwood and Phillip Sweeney both of Farley, IA, John Cosgrove of Cincinnati; and a special cousin Sr. Lillian Connolly, RSM.

He is preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, William and Annie Greenwood and Joseph and Noreen Connolly.

William J. "Bill" Greenwood Memorial fund has been established in lieu of flowers.
