FARLEY, Iowa - Thomas W. Greenwood, 71, of 206 Second Ave. S.W., Farley, died at 2:40 a.m. Thursday, March 8, 2001, at Ennoble Manor, Dubuque.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Farley. His body was donated to the University of Iowa. Private family burial will be at a later date, with military rites accorded by the Farley American Legion Post 656. Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. today at Reiff Funeral Home, Farley, where the Farley Fire Department will meet at 6:45 p.m. There will be an American Legion service at 7 p.m. and a wake service at 7:30 p.m.

He was born on Feb. 25, 1930, in Farley, son of William A. and Annie V. (Horsfield) Greenwood.

He graduated from the former St. Joseph's School, Farley. He attended Parks College at St. Louis University in St. Louis. He entered the Army and served during the Korean War.

Following his military tour he became a self-employed professional truck driver.

He was a skilled troubleshooter and mechanic. He loved hunting, fishing, golf and water sports. He was a member of St. Joseph's Parish, Farley, and the Farley American Legion Shermann-Peterson Post 656. He was a retired volunteer of the Farley Fire Department.

Surviving are three sisters, Mary M. "Mona" (John) Cosgrove, of Cincinnati, Lois Doyle, of Davenport, and Helen Toohey, also of Davenport; a sister-in-law, Marion Greenwood, of Farley; several nieces and nephews and many grand nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, James "Glen," Loras and Eldon Greenwood; two sisters-in-law, Alvina Greenwood and Grace Greenwood; and a brother-in-law, James Doyle.

A Thomas W. Greenwood Memorial Fund has been established.
