FARLEY, Iowa - Raymond E. Greenwood, 77, of Farley, IA, passed away peacefully at home Thursday, February 19, 2015.

Friends and relatives of Ray may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday, February 22, 2015, at the Reiff Funeral Home in Farley, IA, where a wake service will be held at 4 p.m.

Services for Ray will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 23, 2015, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Farley, IA, with Rev. Michael Schueller officiating. Burial will be held at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Farley, IA.

Ray was born February 27, 1937, in Farley, IA, son of Joseph and Marcella (Kelchen) Greenwood. He received his education in the rural Farley schools. On September 27, 1961, he was united in marriage to Verna M. Gaul at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Luxemburg, IA.

He was a member of St. Joseph's Parish in Farley, IA. Ray enjoyed farming and was a faithful John Deere man who loved tinkering and inventing in his shop. He also enjoyed sitting in his lawn chair and spending time with his family, friends and neighbors. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered as "Old Man" by his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Verna Greenwood, of Farley, IA; four children, Dennis (Sue) Greenwood, of Farley, IA, Deb (Joe) Pins, Becky (Mike) Knipper both, of Earlville, IA, and Chris Greenwood, of Farley, IA; 7 grandchildren; Jennifer Pins (Matt Klaren), Kayla Pins (Andrew Bacon), Allison, Erin, and Dylan Knipper, Molly Baltierra and Matt (Mary) Lent; 3 great grandchildren, Cailin, Kaleb and Kaydence; four siblings, Mary Weber, of Dyersville, IA, Irene Engelken, of Earlville, IA, Eldon (Linda) Greenwood, of Farley, IA, and Rita Heims, of Prairieburg, IA; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Marlene Koppes (Bill), of Cascade, IA, David (Carol) Gaul, of Guttenberg, IA, Donnie Gaul (Deb), of Luxemburg, IA, and Bernie Maiers, of Holy Cross, IA.

He is preceded in death by his parents, father and mother-in-law, Joseph and Stella Gaul; three brothers-in-law, Julius Engelken, Elmer Heims, Elmer Weber and one sister-in-law, Connie Maiers.

The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice of Dubuque and St. Joseph's Parish for all the support and kindness they received throughout Ray's illness.
