FARLEY, Iowa -- Ramona M. Esch, 90, of Farley, died at 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 8, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 13, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Farley, with the Rev. Dennis Cain officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Farley. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 12, at Reiff Funeral Home, Farley, where there will be a wake service at 3:30 p.m.

She was born on Sept. 7, 1919, in Holy Cross, daughter of Tony and Rose (Klostermann) Konzen. She received her education in the Dyersville rural country schools.

She married George C. Esch on Feb. 22, 1949, at St. Francis Xavier in Dyersville; he preceded her in death on Sept. 23, 2004.

She was a member of St. Joseph's Parish, Farley, and its Altar and Rosary Society and a former member of the Catholic Daughters of America's Presentation Court 1460.

Ramona enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren and loved visiting with friends. She very much enjoyed her 90th birthday celebration and card shower.

Surviving are a daughter, Evelyn (Phil) Kennedy, of Peosta; two sons, Tim (Jackie) Esch, of Dubuque, and Pat (Lisa) Esch, of Asbury; six grandchildren, Mollie (Jamie) Recker, Chad (friend, Sarah Bergfeld) Kennedy, Matt (Elizabeth) Kennedy, Jessica (Jeff) Schneider, Jeremy (Suzy) Esch and Megan Esch; two stepgrandchildren, Brian (Gina) Hodgson and Laura Hodgson; two great-grandchildren, Cole and Madeline Recker; a brother, Howard (Rosemary) Konzen, of Dyersville; and two sisters, Roseanne (Don) Von Lehmden, of Dyersville, and Grace (John) Ernster, of Rochester, Minn.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Lester Konzen; and a brother-in-law, John Ernster.
