FARLEY, Iowa - Elmer F. Fangmann, 79, of 13922 Holy Cross Road, Farley, died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2009, at his home in rural Farley.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 10, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Farley, with the Rev. Dennis Cain officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Farley. Friends may call after 8 a.m., Saturday at the Reiff Funeral Home, Farley.

He was born on Oct. 29, 1929, in Worthington, son of Herman L. and Mary H. (Puetz) Fangmann. He received his education in the rural Worthington and St. Francis Schools, Dyersville.

He married Norma Jean Krapfl on May 15, 1956, at St. John's Catholic Church, Delhi; she preceded him in death on Jan. 21, 1975.

Elmer farmed all his life in the rural Farley area.

He was a member of St. Joseph's Parish in Farley.

Surviving are a sister, Julia Pasker, of Luxemburg; and nieces and nephews, David Pasker, Shirley Foley, Edwin Feldmann Jr., Larry Feldmann, Vernon Feldmann, Gary Feldmann and Janet Watts.

He also was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Patricia M. Fangmann, on June 25, 1997; his four sisters, Berniece (Edmund) Bredhold, Dorothy (Gilbert) Steffan, Germaine Fangmann and Irene (Edwin) Feldmann; and a brother-in-law, Robert Pasker.

An Elmer F. Fangmann Memorial Fund has been established.
