FARLEY, Iowa - Clem J. Ahmann, 94, of 301 4th Ave. N.E., Farley, died at 6:03 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, 2001, at home following a courageous battle with cancer.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Farley, with the Rev. Dennis Cain officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Reiff Funeral Home, Farley, where there will be a wake service at 7 p.m. The Farley Fire Department will also meet in body at 7:30 p.m.

Mr. Ahmann worked with the Chicago Great Western Railroad, and later worked as a carpenter for Percy Streif. He also farmed in the rural Farley area until his retirement in 1972.

He was born on Aug. 6, 1906, in Mallard, son of Andrew and Susan (Nothem) Ahmann. He married Marie Soppe on May 1, 1934, at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Worthington; she died on Dec. 22, 1995.

He was a member of St. Joseph's parish, Farley. He was a volunteer at Oakcrest Manor, Dyersville, and was a former volunteer fireman for the Farley Fire Department.

Surviving are four daughters, Ann (Reece) Shaw, of Dubuque, Nancy (Dallas) Dolphin and Mary Jane (Eldon) Koerperich, both of Farley, and Kathleen (Kenneth) Boge, of Manchester; two sons, Clarence "Jim" (Shirley) Ahmann, of Farley, and Eugene (Helen) Ahmann, of Bankston; 39 grandchildren; and 51 great-grandchildren.

He also was preceded in death by his parents; twin children, John and Joan, in infancy; a son-in-law, Joseph Link; two granddaughters, Jeanne and Lora; a grandson, Brian; six brothers, Frank, Henry, Joseph, John, Mike and Andrew; and three sisters, Elizabeth, Veronica and Mary.

A Clem J. Ahmann Memorial Fund has been established.
