1938 - 2014

Ronald N. Freiburger, 76, of Dubuque passed away Friday, December 26, 2014 at home. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Sherrill. Entombment will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 pm Sunday at the Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 Kennedy Road where there will be a parish wake service at 4 pm.

Ronald was born July 7, 1938 in Dubuque, Iowa, the son of Raymond and Hilda (Haberkorn) Freiburger. On June 23, 1964 he married Janet A. Dalbkermeyer at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Sherrill, Iowa. She preceded him in death on September 9, 2014.

He worked at Dubuque Packing Company until it closed. In 1983 he started Ron Freiburger Electric and enjoyed working along the side of his wife wiring for many years; they were a great team.

His hobbies were collecting Massey Harris tractors, his vast train collection, trap shooting and hunting. He loved playing cards, especially Euchre, and enjoyed all the family get togethers. He enjoyed living life to its fullest.

He is survived by a daughter, Michelle (Ron) Switzer Jr.; two granddaughters, Nicole (Cody) Schmitt and Tiffani Switzer; two brothers, Marvin (Karen) Freiburger and Jerome “Moose” (Karen) Freiburger; and a sister, Charlene (Don) Nauman, all of Sherrill.

His was also preceded in death by his parents and a sister, LaVonne Freiburger.
A Ronald N. Freiburger memorial fund has been established.
