ELMWOOD - Lois E. Silzer, 90, of Elmwood died at 12:23 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013, at her residence.

She was born in Bowen, Ill., on Aug. 13, 1923, to E. Paul and M. Marie (Dennis) West. She married Herman Fred Silzer in Peoria on Aug. 1, 1945. He survives.

Other survivors include six children, Allan (Gail) Silzer of Peoria, Tom (Becky) Silzer of Alvin, Gregg Silzer of Elmwood, Laurie (Chuck) Frazer of Elmwood, Penny (Bruce Hoffmann) Silzer of Elmwood and Betsy (Nick Perrow) Silzer of Brimfield; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one sister, Rachel Shepherdson of Peoria.

She was preceded in death by her son, Randy; and sister, Carol Blake.

Lois was a physical education and business teacher for Elmwood Schools and a member of the Elmwood United Methodist Church.

Cremation rites have been accorded. Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Elmwood is in charge of arrangements. A memorial visitation will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, at the Elmwood United Methodist Church, with a time of food and fellowship to follow.

Memorials may be made to the Elmwood School band program.
