CUBA CITY, Wis. -- Alphonse J. Schwendinger, 76, of Rt. 1 Cuba City, formerly of Dubuque and Epworth, Iowa, died Tuesday morning at home, apparently of a heart attack.
Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Epworth, with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the Reiff Funeral Home in Epworth, where the Rosary will be said at 8 p.m. Wednesday.
Mr. Schwendinger was a member of the Kieler, Wis. Senior Citizens, and member of the Immaculate Conception Altar and Rosary Society, and the Third Order of St. Francis. He had been employed as a bus driver in Dubuque for 25 years prior to his retirement.
Surviving are his wife, the former Catharine Cleary; five sons, Anthony of Boscobel, Wis.; Robert and Donald, both of Seneca, Wis.; John of Dubuque; and James of Cuba City, Wis.; four daughters, Mrs. John (Kathleen) McKillip of Boscobel, Mrs. Fred (Virginia) McGovern of Peosta, Iowa, Mrs. Donald (Marjorie) Saeugling and Mrs. Roy (Rose Mary) Weydert, both of Farley, Iowa; 48 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren and two brothers, John of Epworth and Henry of Downey, Calif.
