FARLEY, Iowa -- Irene M. Funke, 86, of 307 Second Ave. SW, Farley, died at 4:15 p.m. Friday, June 24, 2011, at Shady Rest Care Center, Cascade.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 28, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Farley, with the Rev. Dennis Cain officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul's Cemetery, Worthington. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 27, at Reiff Funeral Home, Farley, where a CDA rosary will be recited at 4:30 p.m. and a wake service will be at 7:30 p.m.

She was born on March 30, 1925, in Farley, daughter of John and Mae (Ludwig) Till. She was a graduate of St. Joseph's High School, Farley, and Mount Mercy College, Cedar Rapids.

She was a teacher for the Western Dubuque Schools in Farley for several years. She later was employed as the city clerk for Farley until her retirement.

She married LeVern L. "Bud" Funke on June 30, 1948, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Farley; he preceded her in death on July 3, 2005.

She was a member of St. Joseph's Parish in Farley, a member of its Altar and Rosary Society, and a member of the Farley Catholic Daughters of the America's-Presentation Court 1460.

Surviving are two children, Bill (Janice) Funke, of Dubuque, and Janet (Steve) Wilgenbusch, of Antioch, Tenn.; a daughter-in-law, Mary Jane Funke, of Streator, Ill.; seven grandchildren, Ben Funke, of South Bend, Ind., Erica Funke, of Sanford, Fla., Chad (Lauren) Wilgenbusch, of Memphis, Tenn., Chase (Cammie) Funke, of Hamilton, Ohio, Abby Wilgenbush, of Nashville, Tenn., Sara Wilgenbusch (fiance, Nathan Baumgartner), of Johnson City, Tenn., and Luke Wilgenbusch, of Antioch, Tenn.; two great-grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and five siblings, Dola Stoll, of Cascade, Gene Till, of Phoenix, Ariz., Carl Till and Helen Sheehy, both of Dubuque, and Elaine Schnoor, of Naples, Fla.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Robert Funke, on June 10, 1952, and Richard Funke, on Nov. 16, 2005; a brother, Paul Till, in 1967; and two sisters, Ruth Graham and Kay Peterchuck.
