DYERSVILLE, Iowa -- Viola C. "Vi" Frasher, 82, of Dyersville, died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2008, at Oak Crest Manor, Dyersville, after a brief illness.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul Catholic Church, Worthington, with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. Don Hertges will officiate and the Rev. Dan Knepper will be the homilist. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at Kramer Funeral Home, Dyersville, where there will be a parish scripture service at 6 p.m. The Scherrman-Peterson American Legion Post 636 and American Legion Auxiliary will meet at 6:30 p.m.

She was born June 12, 1925, in Cascade, daughter of John and Margaret (Hemmer) Dehner. She married Robert F. Frasher May 15, 1946, in Dubuque.

Vi was an active member in her community. She taught her family the importance of reaching out and serving others. She was the perfect hostess, always making everyone feel at home. No one ever went away hungry. Vi loved a good laugh and shared her unique sense of humor with everyone she met. Her family will honor her by carrying on that tradition.

Vi was a Gold Star Mother in the Farley American Legion Auxiliary.

Surviving are her husband, Robert; three sons, Bob (Sally) of Epworth, and Philip (Darlene) and Patrick (Sue Ann), both of Worthington; three daughters, Janine Frasher (significant other, Gary Trimble), of Polk City, Joan (Jack) Drees, of Colesburg, and Janet Frasher (fiance, Doug Davis), of Iowa City; 20 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren; two sisters, Rita (Joseph) Beck and Margaret Ann (Bernie) Ernzen, both of Dubuque; and a brother, George (Bernadine) Dehner, of Clinton.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Gary, in 1970; four sisters, Irene Till, Mary Knepper, Dorothy Cool and Florence Dehner (in infancy); and a brother, Edward Dehner.
