WORTHINGTON, Iowa - Mary A. Wolfe, 83, 204 First Ave. W., Worthington, died at 8:30 p.m. Monday, May 11, 1998, at Mercy Health Center St. Joseph's Unit, Dubuque.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Worthington, with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. today at Reiff Funeral Home, Dyersville, where there will be a St. Paul's Parish rosary at 4 p.m. and a wake service at 7 p.m.

Mary worked at the John Wolfe Grocery and General Merchandise store, in Worthington, until her retirement.

She was born on April 15, 1915, in Worthington, daughter of John A. and Isabella (Stieber) Wolfe.

She received her education at the St. Paul's School, in Worthington. She was a 4-H leader for the Worthington Handy Helpers, for which she received an award for 30 years of volunteerism. She was also a volunteer for the American Cancer Society. She clerked at the election polls for the Republican Party. She was a member of St. Paul's Parish, Worthington, and its altar and rosary society. Mary took charge of arranging the floral decorations at St. Paul's.

Surviving are a sister, Joan (Ben) Loecke, of Worthington; two brothers, Eldon "Pete" (Ann) Wolfe, of Worthington, and Cyril (Marilyn) Wolfe, of Cascade; a sister-in-law, Magdalen Schockemoehl, of Worthington; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Adrian Wolfe, on Dec. 16, 1961; two sisters, Rita Marugg, on Oct. 7, 1988, and Ruth Wolfe, on Oct. 30, 1993.

A Mary A. Wolfe Memorial Fund has been established in lieu of flowers and plants.
