Joan S. "Dietz" Loecke, 86, of Worthington, died Sunday, March 2, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque. Friends and relatives of Joan may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 6, at the Reiff Funeral Home in Dyersville, where a wake service will be held at 4 p.m. and the Worthing Fire Department will meet at 6:30 p.m. Services for Joan will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 7, at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Worthington, with the Rev. Dennis Quint officiating. Burial will be held in St. Paul's Cemetery in Worthington.

Joan was born Oct. 6, 1927, in Worthington, Iowa, the daughter of John A. and Isabelle (Stieber) Wolfe. She was a graduate of the St. Paul's School in Worthington. On May 30, 1949, she was united in marriage to Bernard "Ben" Loecke at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Worthington. The couple owned and operated the former Loecke Feeds in Worthington for 15 years, then they farmed in the rural Worthington area.

She was a member of St. Paul's Parish in Worthington and a member of its altar and rosary society. Joan enjoyed gardening, feeding the birds, riding her four-wheeler to check flowers and animals, baking and sending cards to people for birthdays and anniversaries.

She is survived by her husband, Bernard Loecke of Worthington; three children, LuAnn (Robert) Glaser of Burlington, Robert Loecke of Worthington and William (Kim) Loecke of Cedar Rapids; eight grandchildren, Jennifer (Kristopher) Glaser-Koehler, Nick (Sara) Loecke, Vanessa (Chuck) Naber, Tony (Kate) Loecke, Benjamin Glaser, Cassandra (Joe) Pudenz, Allie Loecke and Melissa Loecke; nine great grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Ann Wolfe of Worthington.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Rita Marugg, Mary Wolfe and Ruth Wolfe; and three brothers, Adrian Wolfe, Cyril Wolfe and Eldon Wolfe.
