DYERSVILLE, Iowa - Mercedes M. Kluesner, 83, of 1119 Second St. S.W., Dyersville, formerly of Worthington, died at 7:05 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, 1999, at The Finley Hospital, Dubuque.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville, with burial in St. Paul's Cemetery, Worthington. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. today at Reiff Funeral Home, Dyersville, where there will be a wake service at 7 p.m.

She was born on Sept. 2, 1916, in Holy Cross, daughter of Nicholas and Elizabeth (Pins) Lucas.

She married Fred Kluesner on Oct. 8, 1940, at Holy Cross Catholic Church. They farmed in the Worthington area until their retirement. Mr. Kluesner died April 16, 1978.

She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Basilica Parish, Dyersville, and its rosary society.

Surviving are three sons, Kenneth (Joanne) Kluesner, of Worthington, Gary (Ann) Kluesner, of Dubuque, and Kevin Kluesner, of Dyersville; seven grandchildren and a great-grandchild; two sisters, Rita (Joseph) Schaul, of Dyersville, and JoAnn (Norman) Link, of Balltown; four brothers, Leander (Sally) Lucas, of Bloomington, Minn., Larry (Dorothy) Lucas, of Holy Cross, Ray (Verna) Lucas, of Cedar Rapids, and Merlyn (Phyllis) Lucas, of Monona; and a special family friend, Joannie Gile, of Cascade.

Shealso was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Donnie Kluesner, on April 11, 1970; a sister, Cecelia Manternach; and a brother, Milton Lucas.

A Mercedes M. Kluesner Memorial Fund has been established.
