MUSKEGO, Wis. - Ronald J. Kelly, 50, of Muskego, formerly of Davenport and Worthington, Iowa, died Saturday, Sept. 2, 2000, in Rochester (Minn.) after a courageous battle with cancer.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul Catholic Church, Worthington, with the Rev. Ed Petty officiating. Pallbearers will be Wayne Mormann, John McCormack, Mike Ouverson, Tad White, Steve Schultz and Keith Hagge. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery. The Kramer Funeral Home, Dyersville, Iowa, is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Kelly was a general contractor and owner of Natural Energy in Davenport until he moved to Muskego in 1997. Along with his business partner and friend, Tad (Fritz) White, they designed the first totally energy independent building in Iowa. Sen. John Culver, of Iowa, entered their business, "Natural Energy, Inc." in the Congressional Record for excellence in energy conservation. Mr. Kelly was invited by the International Solar Energy Association to present the "Natural Energy" building design/operation at the 1985 International Convention in China.

He was born on Sept. 26, 1949, in Dubuque, son of Urban and Mary (Skahill) Kelly. He married Dawn Renee Gunderson on Oct. 14, 1989, in Davenport.

He graduated from Beckman High School, Dyersville, and received a degree in business and economics at Loras College, Dubuque, and his master's degree at Goddard College, Vermont. He served in the Army during 1970 and 1971 in Vietnam and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. His favorite activity was spending time with his family and friends.

Surviving are his wife, Dawn; a daughter, Laura; a son, Thomas; a brother, Stephen (Jody) Kelly, of Fort Atkinson, Wis.; three sisters, Janet (Wayne) Mormann, of Dyersville, Nancy (Mike) Ouverson, of Worthington, and Debra Kelly, of Davenport; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ronald and Beverly Gunderson, formerly of Davenport.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A Ronald J. Kelly Memorial Fund has been established.
