WORTHINGTON, Iowa - Clarence N. Hillebrand, 82, of Worthington, died at 7:30 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 7, 2006, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Worthington, with the Rev. Douglas Loecke officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul's Catholic Cemetery, Worthington, where there will be a flag presentation accorded by the Cascade American Legion Post 528. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m., Monday at Reiff Funeral Home Cascade, where there will be a wake service at 4:30 p.m. Friends also may call after noon on Tuesday at the funeral home.

He was born on Nov. 7, 1923, in Two Rivers, Wis., son of Andy and Mary (Lopie) Hillebrand. He married Irene M. Timp on Jan. 9, 1951; she preceded him in death on July 22, 1994. The couple farmed in the Karper Harbor area in rural Cascade.

Clarence was a veteran, having served in the Korean War. He was a member of St. Paul's Parish in Worthington, a member of the Worthington Sportsman's Club, and a member of the Cascade American Legion Post 528.

He was an avid card player and Cubs fan, he enjoyed visiting with people. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Surviving are a son, Clarence "Nick" Hillebrand, of Marion; grandchildren, Teresa Scherrman and Tammy Hillebrand and their mother, Susan Hostert, Stacey Klostermann and Jamie Hoth; and seven great-grandchildren.

He also was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, John Hillebrand, in 1975 and Donald Hillebrand, in 1977; a daughter-in-law, Donna Hillebrand, in 2004; and 12 brothers and sisters, Joseph, Florence Erdmann, Armella Feltes, Alfred, Raymond, Arnie, Erwin, Vernon, Germaine Feltes, Marcella Pline, Roland and Marion Sternhagen.
