Robert Lee Jackson, Jr.

Johnston, formerly of Charlotte,NC

Robert "Bob" Jackson,Jr., 64, passed away on Friday, January 10, 2014. A Memorial Mass will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, January 18 at Our Lady of Peace Chapel at Bishop Drumm Retirement Center, 5837 Winwood Dr., Johnston. A Reception will follow at 3 p.m. next door at McAuley Terrace.

Bob was born January 30, 1949 in Marshalltown, Iowa to Robert and Thelma (Nankival) Jackson. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1967 where he was a starter on the varsity basketball team. He attended the University of Iowa where he was a member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity and played on the freshman basketball team before leaving college to serve his county in the US Air Force during the Vietnam era.

He was a stockbroker in Phoenix and worked in car sales in Florida. Bob moved to Charlotte, NC in 1998 and was employed with University Volvo as a top car salesman. He won trips to Sweden and many awards during his time in sales.

Bob also enjoyed golf, Thoroughbred horse racing and supporting the Carolina Panthers. He loved spending time with his family and friends and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by daughters, Jill (Paul) Norris of Kearney, MO and Kathryn (Greg) Askew of Chandler, AZ; grandchildren, Connor and Ethan Norris, and Hannah and Bryce Askew; father, Bob, Sr.; siblings, Jim (Melinda) of Portland, OR, Dave (Candace) of Des Moines and Sue (Tom) Eppenauer of Johnston; and many nieces, nephews, his University Volvo family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Thelma "Mooch" Jackson in May 2013.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to McAuley Terrace, 5921 Winwood Dr., Johnston. -
