Mrs. Martin Schwendinger
FARLEY, Ia., -- Special: Mrs. Martin Schwendinger, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Peter George, here Saturday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock after a years illness. Caroline Brauhn was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Brauhn, born in Neuremberg, Germany, August 5, 1845. She was 89 years old and she came to Dubuque County with her parents when a small child, marrying Martin Schwendinger in Holy Trinity church, Dubuque, 68 years ago. They settled near Lore. Eleven children were born to them, 4 of which preceded Mrs. Schwendinger in death. Her husband died March 9, 1915.

She is survived by Sister M. Floriana, of St. Mary's Orphanage, Dubuque; Mrs. G. P. Winter, New Hampton; Joseph Schwendinger, Dubuque; John and Will of Epworth; Mrs. Peter George, Farley; Mrs. Joseph Kehoe, Waterloo; 45 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Two sisters survive. They are Mrs. Mart Bradley and Miss Nettie Brauhn of Epworth; two brothers, Louis Brauhn, Chicago, and John Brauhn, East Dubuque, Ill., survive. She was a staunch Catholic all her life and a member of Rosary and Sacred Heart Society and of the Third Order of St. Francis.

Funeral services will be held in St. Joseph's church, Farley, Tuesday morning at 9 o'clock with burial in Centralia cemetery.
